Issue 6 will be released tomorrow, Saturday August 4th 2007. I’m planning on uploading the files to the web and ftp servers around 9pm EST tomorrow. A formal announcement will be made on Monday.

Sorry folks, need to push this back 24 hours or so. Issue 6 will be up on the servers right around 9pm PST Sunday evening (August 5th). It took a bit longer than expected to tweak the subscriber system the way we wanted to, so that delayed everything else. Couple of other minor issues we’re going to resolve before going fully live.

The digital presses have been stopped, Issue 6 will hit the site on Tuesday evening. Couple of minor issues and a few people have requested torrents and ftp options. The network needs to be able to withstand the digg.com, slashdot, type traffic, so couple of small changes are being done, including further refinements to the GSLB setup.

Note: We will NOT delay the magazine past Tuesday, because of Issue 7 and Issue 8 release schedules.

Issue 6 is ready to go. We’ll be putting it on-line around 1pm EST today.

Issue 6 failed our QA process of testing the PDF with multiple PDF viewers and plug-ins. The problem was tracked down to an issue with Scribus and pre-linking text frames on templates. For some reason Scribus was getting confused about which frames were linked after import. This was causing PDF bookmarks and other things to behave unexpectedly. We had to re-typeset the magazine as it was not recoverable.

Issue 6 is now ready to go, and will hit the web site this morning. Sorry about the delay and we don’t expect to have any problems with future Issues.
